Well said, Bob🫡…indeed a football season for the ages. Your reporting made it come to life for those of us unable to attend…and for the single game we saw on ESPN…your filing was an instant replay in vivid detail. Congratulations to Coach Plough and the Aggie gridders for their remarkable season—earning a playoff seed, and a first round bye…best of success in the playoffs, gentlemen. And, a heart felt thanks to The Wary One for his stellar reporting to us reader-fans, at home…(Ewwwww, don’t do it…don’t dooooo…‼️) 🤷🏻♂️
I can hear your voice when I read your words. I admire your ability to be a fan while always staying grounded in reality. Your gratitude always comes through in your writing. You remind us that, if we take the time to notice, there’s so much to admire in this world. And your gratitude is contagious.
Somehow it brings to my mind a sports event in my distant past. My high school football team was preparing for a regional contest and had a city-wide pep rally. As I recall, they used a flat-bed trailer as a platform, with coaches, some players and various dignitaries up there. After all the usual rah-rah speeches, the director of the local funeral home came to the mike.
(Why him? Back in those days, the mid-60s, no one had even heard of EMS, so the funeral homes provided an ambulance at home games in case there was a serious injury.)
He made a brief speech, then closed with these immortal words: "Remember boys, I'll be the last one to let you down. Go Ducks!"
I noticed that your neighbor to the north, Oregon is the only undefeated top-level college football team in the country, ranked #1. I'll be pulling for those Ducks, unless they end up playing my alma mater, the University of Texas Longhorns.
I am so glad you were there for it all. As someone who followed this team since we snuck into the games in the back of the UCD Ambulance @ 9 years old your coverage has made me remember the days of, "Biggs pass complete for another first down!". Thanks Bob and Go Aggies!
I read this aloud to my husband as I do often with your column. It is not even close to the first time I've commented, "Bob's best column ever!"
You are too kind, Diane. Thanks so much.
It was such a joy to be a small part of that gathering.
Merry Christmas from our home to yours

Thanks so much Bill. Means a ton to me.
In the spirit of Christmas, the double red exclamation points will be forgiven.
Blessings
Bob

Those are awfully nice words, Austin. Perfectly said and very much appreciated.
Yes, there is so much to be grateful for.
Thanks for your kind words.

John - It's entirely likely that the Ducks will lock horns with the Horns one day soon.
Now that would be a game for the ages.
