Aggie football soars in national rankings after decisive win over Texas A&M-Commerce
Big Sky teams dominate latest FCS poll
AGS CLIMB THE RANKING LADDER ... After a 36-22 home win over Texas A&M-Commerce Saturday night, UC Davis shot up six places to No. 12 in the last FCS Coaches Poll.
UCD, 1-1, returns to action Saturday with a 5 p.m. (PDT) non-conference game at Southern Utah, also 1-1 after an impressive 27-24 overtime win over Texas-El Paso.
"We have a number of things to clean up, but it's great to get a win at home," said first-year Aggie head coach Tim Plough, whose team presented him with the game ball after his first victory as a head coach.
"We're thankful to get a win on our home field. It's a point of emphasis for us to win at home. We made a lot of mistakes, but that's the fun part of football to see how good your team can get as the season moves along. If we can win a game and not play our best, the positive is that you have a pretty good team."
BIG SKY DOMINATES RANKINGS WITH SIX TEAMS IN TOP 25 ... The Aggies may well have one of the toughest schedules in all of FCS football with games still to come against the four conference teams ranked ahead of them this week.
The 12-team Big Sky features eight conference games for each school, meaning every team misses three Big Sky opponents each season. (If that math doesn't add up, remember you can't play yourself.)
