Aggie men rally late to stop Idaho for first basketball win of the season
Johnson finishes with 30 points, Tamba has 17 in dramatic comeback
MOSCOW, Idaho - TY Johnson hit six straight free throws in the final 1:45 as UC Davis roared back from an 11-point first-half deficit to stun Idaho, 79-75, in a non-conference men's basketball game here Thursday night.
The Aggies, now 1-1, trailed 28-17 late in the first half and appeared to be in for a long night before trimming the deficit to 40-37 at the half.
The Vandals responded midway through the second half, however, and built the lead back to 67-58 before Johnson hit a 3-pointer to key an 11-0 Aggie run that included a pair of field goals from Pablo Tamba and suddenly UCD had a 73-70 lead that it would not relinquish.
Johnson, one of the top point guards in the country, finished with 30 points to go with the 35 he had in a season-opening loss at Washington Tuesday night.
