Keegan Walwyn-Bent's late goal from short range gave the UC Davis men's soccer team a tense 2-1 victory over Cal State Bakersfield in the first round of the Big West Conference championships Wednesday afternoon at the UC Davis soccer complex.
Walwyn-Bent, a native of Toronto, was assisted on the score by Cason Goodman and Lucas Fernandez-Kim at 83:18.
The No. 4 Aggies, 9-5-5 overall, now advance to the semifinal round against regular-season champion Cal Poly on Sunday at 2 p.m. in San Luis Obispo.
UCD has won four straight.
"I'm just excited for our team," said Aggie head coach Dwayne Shaffer, now in his 28th season.
