Aggies end 11-game drought against Eastern Washington to move to 7-1 on the season
Larison, Hastings, Gbatu and Davis lead the way in 48-38 win
CHENEY, Washington - As they prepared to play a team that had an 11-0 all-time record against UC Davis, Aggie head coach Tim Plough told his charges to pay no attention to the past and to go out and make some history of their own.
And make history the Aggies did, overcoming a sluggish start with a 28-point explosion in the second quarter to defeat Eastern Washington, 48-38, in a Big Sky Conference football battle Saturday afternoon on the bright red turf of the EWU "Inferno."
The win, UCD's seventh straight, gives the No. 6 Aggies a 7-1 overall mark and keeps them tied for first place with Montana State in the Big Sky, both at 4-0.
Eastern is now 2-5 overall and 1-2 in the Big Sky.
No. 3 Montana State overwhelmed Portland State, 44-14, and is now 8-0 overall. MSU comes to Davis Nov. 16 for a game that seems certain to have league championship and playoff considerations on the line.
"It's hard to win on the road in this conference, but I'm proud of the growth mindset of this team and how they keep finding a way to win," said Plough afterward.
