Aggies face stern test at longtime nemesis Eastern Washington
Eagles own an 11-0 all-time record against UC Davis
Nobody knows the Big Sky conference like Aaron Best.
The Eastern Washington head football coach has been a part of the EWU campus in Cheney (pronounced "chee-knee") since arriving there as a college freshman out of Tacoma in 1996.
After graduating in 2001, he served for 16 seasons as an Eagles assistant to head coaches Paul Wulff and Beau Baldwin before taking over the program himself in 2017.
Best and his upset-minded Eagles will host UC Davis Saturday at 4 p.m. in a Big Sky Conference showdown on the bright red turf of what is known as The Inferno at EWU.
Best knows of both the highs and the lows of the program, though there have been more of the former than the latter on his watch.
As an assistant in 2010, Best helped guide the Eagles to an FCS national championship with a dramatic 20-19 win over Delaware in a game attended by then Vice President Joe Biden, a Delaware alum.
It was the last FCS title for a Big Sky team.
