Aggies head to Berkeley hoping to end a 92-year-long drought
UC Davis football season opens with a tall task against the Golden Bears of Strawberry Canyon
UC Davis has boarded the bus to Berkeley 11 times over the last 92 years to play football against the California Golden Bears and all 11 times they've ended up on the short end of the score.
Which is to be expected. Cal, after all, has been a power at the national level over the years, while the Aggies played for many seasons at the Division II level and were never even remotely favored in any of those 11 games.
Game No. 12 in the series takes place Saturday, again in Berkeley, at Cal's magnificent Memorial Stadium, a 63,000-seat beauty that was completed 101 years ago in time for the 1923 Big Game against Stanford.
Game time in the season opener for both schools is 2 p.m.
