Aggies hold off late rally to stop No. 4 Idaho, 28-26
Fourth straight UCD win features an impressive comeback
UC Davis overcame a 14-0 first-quarter deficit, then held on at the end to take a dramatic 28-26 win from No. 4 Idaho in a Big Sky football showdown Saturday night at UC Davis Health Stadium.
The win in the conference opener for both schools marks the first time in the FCS era that the Aggies have beaten a top four team.
UCD entered the game at No. 11, but is certain to rise in the rankings when the FCS Coaches Poll is released on Monday.
The Aggies have now won four straight to push their record to 4-1, while Idaho drops to 3-2.
"It's obviously a great win for us against a great team," said first-year Aggie head coach Tim Plough.
"We knew this was going to be tough and I sure hope we don't have to play them again, because I'm sure they're going to be in the playoffs. It was a great team win, with all three phases contributing from start to finish. It's good to be undefeated at home. That's one of our goals and that's how you win the conference championship."
