Aggies shoot up to No. 8 after big win over Idaho
UC Davis heads to Portland State riding a four-game winning streak
After pulling off a dramatic 28-26 win over No. 4 Idaho last Saturday night, UC Davis moved up three spots to No. 8 in the latest FCS Coaches Football Poll.
In the process, the Aggies leapfrogged three of the four Big Sky teams that had previously been ranked ahead of them.
UCD returns to Big Sky action Saturday at 1 p.m. at Portland State, then returns home Oct. 12 against Cal Poly.
Montana State remains the class of the Big Sky at No. 3 after drilling Idaho State, 37-17, to move to 5-0 on the season.
Idaho fell all the way to No. 12 and is now 3-2, while Sacramento State dropped from No. 10 to No. 20 after being crushed by Northern Arizona, 34-16, and falling to 2-3.
The good news for perennial Big Sky power Montana is that the Griz stayed at No. 9 after scoring 52 points against Eastern Washington. The bad news is Montana gave up 49 points to EWU. The Griz are now 4-1.
Note: There are a number of FCS polls out there, but the Coaches Poll is the most reliable. Certainly more trustworthy than the One Guy in His Garage Drinking Pabst Blue Ribbon Poll.
Not that coaches don't have biases of their own.
