Davis, California has a street for every season and every reason
Can you name every street in Davis? I can't either.
Every now and then I'll say "I got a note from my good friend Bill on the Bird Streets." Or "I received a kind letter from Glenda on the Wild Animal Streets." Or "Tom on the Dead President Streets" fired off a guided missive that landed in my inbox."
Actually, it's not just presidents who have to be dead before getting a Davis street named after themselves. Everyone, local or famous or simply the offspring of a developer, has to be long gone before any Davis street will bear their name. That's the law. Moving away doesn't count. You have to present your death certificate, in person, on the date the city is considering naming a street after you.
Of course, Tim the World Famous UPS Driver did get a downtown alley named after him without having to draw his last breath, but he's the exception that proves the rule. The fact that Tim was delivering a large box of chocolates to the council chambers that day probably did not hurt his cause.
