Is Wendy Weitzel in line for a Pulitzer? - She should be
MORE ON THE G STREET GAFFE ... Even as the City of Davis continues to "solicit input" from businesses on the blocked off section of G Street between 2nd and 3rd, it's forging ahead with plans to begin construction later this month.
Hopefully, the city would also like to know how we the customers of those G Street establishments feel about this, but it seems as if the die has already been cast. Or is it the dye that has already been cast?
My colleague Wendy Weitzel deserves a Pulitzer - or at least a pizza and a pint of beer - for her no-holds-barred reporting on this issue that has raised eyebrows all over town.
In one interaction, a high city official told her that "We're doing these things in parallel with the construction process."
In other words, we're starting construction even though we aren't through soliciting feedback. I know there's some sort of cart-before-the-horse expression for that, but the logic escapes me.
