Norfolk State uses second-half burst to overwhelm UC Davis, 76-55
Aggies turn the ball over 23 times in disappointing loss on home floor
Apparently, if you play enough basketball games against stiff competition, sooner or later you're going to have a night like this.
Struggling through an unusually difficult second half, UC Davis was overwhelmed by Norfolk State, 76-55, in a non-conference men's basketball game Monday night at the University Credit Union Center.
The loss drops the Aggies to 3-3 overall while Norfolk is now 5-3.
The lead changed hands eight times in the first half that ended with Norfolk up, 34-33.
Three free throws by Niko Rocak to start the second half gave the Aggies a 36-34 advantage, but then disaster struck.
For the next 15 minutes, the Aggies had more turnovers than Betty Crocker, incredibly managing just one field goal in that span as their visitors raced away to a 53-39 lead and never looked back. Their biggest lead was 24 points entering the final minute.
At that point it was hard for anyone in the stunned home crowd to imagine that UC Davis actually had a lead in the second half.
