UC Davis men sputter on offense in 75-64 loss at Cal State Bakersfield
Late rally falls short as Aggies suffer first Big West Conference loss
BAKERSFIELD - Struggling to establish any sort of offensive rhythm, UC Davis suffered a frustrating 75-64 loss to Cal State Bakersfield Saturday night in Big West Conference men's basketball at the Icardo Center.
The loss was the Aggies' first in Big West play and dropped them out of first place and into a tie for second with Cal State Northridge and Long Beach State, all with 2-1 marks.
UC Riverside is alone in first at 3-0, followed by UC San Diego and UC Irvine, both at 2-0.
UCD is 8-6 overall, while Bakersfield is 7-8 and 1-2.
A basket by TY Johnson gave the Aggies an early 7-4 lead and Connor Sevilla had a 3-pointer to push to count to 12-6, but CSUB used a 10-0 run to take a 24-20 advantage and finished the half up 30-27.
A basket by Niko Rocak to open the second half brought the Aggies within 30-29, but UCD was never able to regain the lead.
