Unfortunately, he makes it sound like folks without children are second class citizens

Andrea Widburg has an interesting take on the subject at American Thinker. You might check that out.

You are so kind.

Would you like a cabinet post in exchange?

Nah. Nothing so fancy. Ambassador to Court of St. James would be sufficient.

I'll apply the famous Dunning Rule of Good Citizenship: "Vote early. Vote often."

Let's get it done!

As a middle-aged, childless beagle lady, I’m so glad he attacked those pesky women with feline fetishes…. My beagle girl (who I might add is also female and childless) and I are pleased the crosshairs of the VP hopeful were not directed at us! My Gracie girl says “VP” in Vance’s case stands for Vexatiously Pigheaded. She’s so smart, maybe she should run this country! 🤣

Bob. It appears that you are going to be provided with plenty of “good material” from the Hillbilly who went to Yale Law School…became a spokesman first for the working class and opposed to Trump and his authoritarianism..then does a 180 degree flip and becomes the MAGA attack dog.

Who is served and what voters does he attract by attacking folks(women) without children?

With comments and candidates like JD Vance you are going to have enough material and insights for at least 3 columns/ Substack posts per day… Keep it up and thanks for the memory of the Winters Cat Lady…

Jim - You are so right. Why offend a group of people, some of whom might have voted for you? No strategy there.

Yes, my worries about running out of material have vanished.

I'll leave that up to the grandchildren.

Seriously, you've simply followed the Biblical admonition to "be fruitful and multiply," which many in this generation are choosing not to do. Maybe JD Vance should home in on the people who would rather have pets than children.

I don't understand politicians who go out of their way to offend a certain segment of the populatiion.

If you think it's important to have kids to be in politics, more power to you. But why offend all those voters who don't have kids.

Expand full comment

Perhaps it's because he's determined that most of those who choose not to have children will likely not vote for him anyway. But he has to make it clear that he has nothing against those who can't have children: big difference there.

For my money stepmother to teenagers is as tough a job as there is. Her success in that role is only a plus. Sorry Bob, you can join me as one of yesterday's leaders of tomorrow.

We had four teenagers in our home at the same time and it was a thrill a minute keeping up with all their activities and discussing every issue of the day with them. A complete joy.

I'm childless and adore my two cats.

The first point was not my choice and the second, they adopted us coming through the old cat door. Not sure which name to address since he has three names, but one thing I am certain about regarding the man child, he has some esplainin to do......I'm sticking with the MAKE AMERICA LAUGH AGAIN VP, Kamala Harris.

JD Vance is as offensive as his running mate. Thank you for always weaving in some humor into these crazy and offensive topics.

P.S. I wanted to add some exclamation points but I know you dislike them! Oops…

Thanks Catherine.

It's a lot easier to laugh at comments like that than to get mad. They may have to replace Vance or at least unplug the microphone when he's speaking.

As a mother of two single 40 somethings, I’m offended by the Vance comment. In a pronatal nation , where children/ grands earn you a badge of honor , it is extremely hard not to follow the traditional road of having a family. Including medical conditions, what if you never met “ the one?” Are you less “blessed” ? (How I hate that word.) Agree, Bob , numerous progeny does not make you better than …… Sometimes the “ lessers” are dealt a hand they didn’t choose.

IF you wake up to "...10 kids jumping on your bed on Saturday morning when you were trying to sleep in on your day off...", you must be a childless Auntie or Uncle these days. Parents would not allow their children to jump on their bed, let alone 10 of them because they have nowhere to send them (unless they send them "one click away" to their siblings' homes). Said siblings should score high marks for mastering "keen situational management skills" and therefore able to run the US of A. By the way, I've got you beat, Bob: 7 nieces and nephews plus 7 grands (all with vested shares in the Aunt Sherri Old Age Fund) AND I consider myself as being a "stakeholder" who has NEVER missed exercising my responsibility (and right) to VOTE.
